A Grown-up Peanut Butter Sandwich

As I don't have much of a sweet tooth, I've never fancied the traditional peanut butter and jam (US: jelly) sandwich. However, inspired by eastern cuisine, I've come up with a sophisticated alternative...

Ingredients

2 slices of bread (I like wholemeal, but use white if you prefer)
Butter or margarine (optional)
Crunchy peanut butter
Mango chutney

Method

Butter the bread if desired - I don't, since peanut butter is already pretty high in calories, but your mileage may vary.

On one slice, spread a good dollop of peanut butter. On the other, a good smear of chutney. Put the two slices together, cut in half, and enjoy!

You can try this with any exotic preserve: Indian lime pickle, fig relish (made by Tracklements of Wiltshire and bought in the National Trust shop at Westonbirt Arboretum - very nice!), chilli jam, or anything sharp and fruity that will counteract the stickiness of the peanut butter.
